What an affiliate link is
An affiliate link is an ordinary link to a retailer with a tracking code attached. If you follow it and buy something, the retailer pays a small percentage of the sale to whoever sent you. The price you pay is exactly the same as it would be otherwise.
Which programmes are used
Weekend Tech Projects participates in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program (and its equivalents in other countries), an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon.
As an Amazon Associate, this site earns from qualifying purchases.
Other retailer affiliate programmes may be used in future. When they are, they'll be added to this page.
How this affects what you read here
This is the part that actually matters, so here it is plainly:
- Nothing is recommended because it pays better. The buying guides on this site tell you to buy cheap versions of some things and spend more on others, and include a "what to skip" section specifically to talk you out of buying gear you don't need. That's deliberate.
- No manufacturer pays for coverage here. No sponsored posts, no paid reviews, no free samples in exchange for a write-up. If that ever changes, it'll be disclosed clearly on the article in question, not buried on this page.
- Not every link is an affiliate link. Links to datasheets, documentation, forums and manufacturer pages are just ordinary links.
You don't have to use them
If you'd rather not, simply search for the product directly at your preferred retailer. The recommendations are the same either way, and nothing on this site is hidden behind an affiliate link.
